Men For a Better Lawndale (MBL) is a grassroots organization providing transformative education for African-American male youth in the North Lawndale community.  The academic divide that exists between African-American males and their white counterparts prevails well beyond the traditional classroom setting.  Empirical studies indicate that divide now exist in technology, economics and social behavior.  Ultimately, the widening of these divides lead to the destruction of the students self-esteem, confidence employability and ability to be a viable asset to the community.

MBL is driven to bridge the aforementioned divide through alternative school intervention strategies.  These strategies include the implementation of a creative technology-based program called The Bridge Project.  The Bridge Project teaches up to twenty-four 6th and 7th grade males per school to build computers, develop competencies in basic computer utilization, create individual school-based e-commerce businesses and reinforce newly introduced business and technological concepts.  Lastly, the e-commerce business will provide multiple revenue streams which benefit the students, school, community and the expansion of the Bridge Project to further youth development and the transformative education of students.
